BAD GRAMMAR THEATER

THAT SECOND POST ABOUT DENNIS ETCHISON THAT I PROMISED
So. I read a copy of FEARS, part of a series of anthologies that the late Charles L. Grant edited in the early 1980s. It was in this book that I read "Deathtracks"and I stared at Dennis's name and thought about how this guy could be rooting around in my brain. I will always be a lesser man since his death in June.
At the last Bad Grammar Theater in June, Brendan Detzner allowed me to read "Deathtracks" and it allowed me to tell those gathered that if it wasn't for that story, I honestly would have never met any of them. Certainly not as a writer.

BAD GRAMMAR THEATER JUNE 2019
I had posted about reading the late Dennis Etchison's story "Deathtracks" at last month's Bad Grammar and left it at that. I hadn't uploaded any other photos and now that is rectified. We all know who Brendan is and the smiling fellow at the front entrance is Harold Holt, who happens to be my South Side Ride every now and then.

PRINTERS ROW LITFEST 2018
Not much to say here. The programming seemed light compared to previous years. Weather was bad all through Friday night and it led to some bizarre fog in the morning. My usual accomplices were David and Abby Bainbridge. We ran into Brendan Detzner along the route, saw more than a few TAKE PHOTO & POST images, and sat through a nice hour listening to Guest of Honor Joyce Carol Oates talking.

AND THEN THERE'S PROMOTING YOURSELF THE WAY JERRY LEWIS WOULD HAVE
This was Friday night at Bad Grammar Theater. Photos by Christine Fugate. I read from my collection, the Twitter novel @Joy Motel that goes back to 2008 and ancient times, and the co-author is John Kewley, a man I have still never met. I should do a post on this one day.
After I get the OK to use their individual photos, I'll be doing another post with the gang, all of whom I have mentioned here over the past but for Alice Little and Rory Leahy. So figure in the next few days.

CLOWNS IN THE FLATIRON BUILDING
The Flatiron Building, formerly the Fuller Building, is a few blocks away from Volumes bookcafe, where Brendan Detzner holds Bad Grammar Theater every month. Filled with art studios, a hair salon with the ominous and cool name I'll Cut You, and years ago the wonderful House of Monsters, this place still has a hand crank elevator.
And the interior is painted with clowns. I've tried to find out more information about the artist, but have come up with nothing. Hopefully someone will see this post through the Google machine and will contact me.
