THE FIRST BOOK I BOUGHT FROM THE BOOKMOBILE WITH MY OWN MONEY

Found a copy a few years ago and I think its time to pass it forward. It wasn't long before I was buying copies of H. G. Wells books at the Bookmobile, just a school bus with shelves, but this perked me up, I assume, because I had been reading the Hardy Boys mysteries. I had been keeping my eyes open every time I'd gone to a thrift shop or Salvation Army, and I found my copy at the former.

RETURN TO SENDER

Nobody knows where the previous owners of this house moved, only that it was "out somewhere" in Indiana. Their daughter turned five, they were going to home-school her, and we all know what that means. I got mail for years that were worthless, anything that seemed important I'd write Return To Sender, but most of the time the envelope would come right back.

This thing came in the mail awhile back. Haven't opened it yet, actually forgot about it. If there's anything exciting inside, I'll be sure to do a follow-up post. But yes, Randy Bates, Office of The President thinks that I want a Bible more than anything! And sent to Kenya!

And then, for the first time ever, I received a mailing from the Pacific Garden Mission, a shelter that used to be on State Street until gentrification and man these guys want to me donate $156.00 in order to feed 50 people on Thanksgiving. Not sure if I'm their target mailing, as I think I'm having Jimmy Dean Meat Lovers breakfast on that day.

I do find it humorous that my middle name is omitted. Even my thrice-weekly POS mailings from Xfinity have Wayne Allen Sallee on the glossy card.

STRANGE DAYS OF SNOW AND ICE: EARLY NOVEMBER

Can't forget the Halloween shots. 8 degrees outside and yet I'll be mowing the lawn next week.

MY FIRST EVER BOOK DUMP: ARVADA CO 1992

Too bad you can't read it, but my name in bold print was WANYE ALLEN SALLEE. We went ahead and put in a hyphen for WAN-YE. This was The Little Bookshop of Horrors, run by Doug and Tomi Lewis. Arvada is a suburb of Denver.

Articles in LOCUS by the late Ed Bryant.FOR YOU, THE LIVING (Roadkill Press) came out at the same time.

ABLED

I'm in the above book. All the stories or memories or descriptions of diseases are real, that is why the editor has everyone using their initials. There are two other people beside me who use their last name. It is a massive book and a brave one, too. People taking the time to write about having OCD, MS, Parkinson's, depression. It's all there.
